Demo Content Moving Along!

Just a quick update. We’re busy adding free demonstration content to showcase what Gakuu is all about. I’m sure many of you have been a bit puzzled to see an empty shell of a website up until now, but now things are starting to pick up.

We have a few good posts in the Grammar section, including a couple of Intermediate posts: にて and 勝手ながら. You’ll also find a JLPT level 1 example of べからず in the Advanced section as well as an explanation of a Keigo phrase. A couple of quirky lessons thrown in there too, including a look into Japanese humour and different types of Donburi! You can check out all free content to date right here.

To those of you who have already signed up and taken advantage of our massive launch discount ($120 down to a measly $60 for the Full membership – less than 50 cents per update!!), a big thank-you. You’ll start seeing members-only content very soon and we’ll be tweaking various features of the website as we progress out of launch mode.

The launch offer of $60 will only be running for a couple of weeks though, so if you are still on the fence or have any questions, please let us know in the comments or by sending an email. We also appreciate suggestions to make the site a better experience for you all, so please don’t hold back!

Okay then! That’s all for now :). Happy studying!

Something I don’t quite understand is you say $1 per update, or if you get it now $.50 per update. Does that mean you are only going to make 120 posts total? Or in other words you have 120 lessons planned and once you hit that you are done with content? I am still confused on this point.

Hey :). Good question. I outlined the content in this way for two reasons. 1) It’s a simple way to understand how much value you are getting for what seems like a lot of money at first. 2) As much as I’d like to, I can’t promise I’ll be around to keep adding new content forever and ever and ever :p.I figured being up front and honest about the practical limitations would be best just in case if, for some reason, I am unable to continue updating the site. That’s why the minimum figure is set at 120 – I promise I will at least add more than that. In reality though, I’d love to just keep adding content around twice a week as I come across it. I enjoy teaching people about advanced Japanese as much as you all enjoy learning it, and as we know, enjoyment is one of the most important things for learning (and teaching!)So $120 fees and more than 120 updates = less than $1 per update.Current special launch discount is $60, which means if you buy the Full Membership for life now, you’re only paying less than 50 cents per update.Hope that helps :).
