Lucky Ears – 福耳

Do you ever secretly worry about the shape of your ears? Perhaps you have larger-than-normal earlobes? Do they droop down in a stretched-out fashion? It may be that you’re one of the lucky owners of ‘fukumimi’!

福耳 (ふくみみ) literally means ‘lucky ears’ and refers to plump and round earlobes that hang lower than what might be considered normal. If you’ve ever seen some of the images of Buddha, or more specifically, one of the Seven Lucky Gods, you may have inadvertently been staring at his supreme earlobes.
